Our Mission

OUR STORY

We are a family rich in diversity and love, and our vision for INSPIRE Community Café emerged from years of dreaming and conversing together around the dining room table. Motivated by our own experiences and those of people we know and love, we wanted to create a business with a mission to create meaningful living wage jobs, healthy and delicious food and a gathering place for local change makers to connect and collaborate for a more just and compassionate community.

While we were looking for the right location for our cafe, we launched a mobile cafe in summer 2017, and we had a blast getting our business off the ground, interacting with the community and sharing some of our yummy food. Now, we are thrilled to have opened our brick-n-mortar cafe in the new Binghampton Gateway Shopping Center at Sam Cooper & Tillman. We hope to see you soon! Mission and Purpose:

To nourish community change by providing living wage jobs, life-giving food and a gathering place that inspires and connects people for the sake of a more just and compassionate Memphis.

Love for people

We are a business that prioritizes people over profits. We pay a living wage and are striving to provide full-time, life-giving employment opportunities. We provide benefits, training and meaningful work for people, and we aim to provide jobs for those re-entering the community after being incarcerated. Our business plan includes profit-sharing opportunities for employees to invest in their families and/or education, and we strive to build a community within our staff that helps all of us to be the best humans we can be.

Passion for life-giving food

We proudly and passionately serve a full menu of coffee and espresso drinks, fresh fruit smoothies, healthy and hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Our menu offers something healthy for everyone, with gluten-free, paleo, vegetarian and vegan options. We source several of our ingredients from local and regional vendors. We provide freshly cooked, family meals to go.

Thirst for justice

We envision a community in which all people are treated with dignity, respect and fairness. We are in business to build a more just and compassionate place for all people to live. We are advocates of economic & racial justice and donate 10% of our net profits to nonprofit organizations committed this important work. Our cafe aims to create an inspiring and nurturing space for local change makers to connect and collaborate for the sake of a better Memphis.
